Jean Bennett works in fibre, jesmonite and encaustic wax. Art has been a constant in her life there has not been a time when art has not been present. During the years Jeans work has changed to become inclusive of the figure. The way we go through various transitions and experiences in our lives and how identities shift during these processes is encompassed in the artwork. The materials used are important adding additional layers of meaning to the work creating personal connections not just for the artist but for the viewer also. Stitching, sculpture, fibre art and encaustic provide a sense of accomplishment and integrity, thus proving a most amenable vehicle for translating inner vision to outer reality.
